Why a hearth and a black hole.

A studio name has to work for a client in Batumi and for an engineer reading the source. Ours works on two levels on purpose.

Every house in old Georgia had a კერა, a hearth. It was not decoration. It was where the fire was kept, where food was made, where people sat. The house was built around it.

A Kerr black hole is the other kind of centre. Roy Kerr described it in 1963: a black hole that spins. Matter near it does not fall straight in. It turns with it, gathers into a disc and lights up. Everything nearby is organised by something you cannot see.

What that has to do with software

Good business software is both. To the people who use it, it is a hearth: the place the work gathers. Bookings, jobs, customers, messages. To the people who build it, it is the hidden centre: data, rules and systems that everything else turns around.

That is the job we want. Not a page that looks good for a launch, but the centre a business runs on, kept running long after.

The ring

The o in Kerrio is a ring, thin at the top and heavy at the bottom, after the first image of a black hole, M87, from 2019. Most people will see a light. Some will see the hearth from above. A few will see the black hole. All three are right, and you do not need to know any of this to use what we build.

IO is the last part: input and output. Systems that talk to each other. That is most of what we do.
