Studio
A hearth, and a hidden black hole.
Kerrio is a software studio in Batumi. The name holds three things.
- Kerr
- A spinning black hole, as described by the mathematician Roy Kerr in 1963. Everything near it turns around it.
- კერა
- Kera, Georgian for hearth: the centre of a house, where the fire is kept and people gather.
- IO
- Input and output. The way systems talk to each other.

The ring
The o is a ring of light.
Thin at the top and heavy at the bottom, after the first image of a black hole, M87, published by the Event Horizon Telescope in 2019. To most people it reads as a light, a hearth seen from above. Both readings are right.
The model
One core, many brands.
Kerrio is the core: engineering, design, data and the people who run them. Our own brands, games first, and our clients' brands run on it. Each keeps its own name.
The sound
Our keys play a B flat.
Turn sound on and every key plays one low B flat. In 2003 astronomers found pressure waves around the black hole in the Perseus cluster: a B flat, about 57 octaves below middle C.
The physics
The site behaves like the thing it is named after.
- LightEdges brighten on the side your pointer comes from, the way light moving toward you is brighter.
- GravityKeys lean a few pixels toward your pointer and settle back.
- SpinEverything that turns, turns clockwise, once, in 900 ms.
- The horizonPages leave warm and slow, and arrive blue and quick.
- The webBehind the glass, threads grow from the ring and gather into it.
